“Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live. While you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.” 2 Peter 3:11-14
We have all watched the classic Christmas movie, Home Alone. Kevin McCallister wakes up one morning to an empty house to realize that his family has abandoned him. Throughout his days of being lonely, he really misses his family. Imagine if you got out of bed one morning and noticed that your whole family was gone and that they had left you for vacation. That would be such a disappointment. Imagine if you woke up one morning and realized that your whole family had gone to Heaven and you were left behind.
As we await Christ’s return, we must be patient. On the news, we see hardship after hardship. There is so much grief going on in the world right now, but we must use this time as an opportunity to do the work that He has called us to do. He is being patient with us because He wants everyone to spend eternity with Him. Jesus does not want us to leave anyone behind.
Who in your life does not believe right now? How can you open their eyes to the Lord and His promises? I know there are people in my life that I need to pray for and seek the occasions to share His love. Can you imagine leaving some of your closest friends and family behind as eternity opens up for us to spend forever?
We need to pursue Godly lives and strive to make an impact on people. With every effort of our being we must live lives that are pure and blameless in His sight. When we begin to do anything, we need to think about impacting God’s kingdom. We get so caught up in earthly desires that we forget about what truly matters.
This week I challenge you to do something you normally wouldn’t. Invite someone to church. Share a Bible verse with someone who is hurting. Pray for your enemies. This was Pastor Scott’s topic in his sermon on Sunday – Check out our church’s Facebook page and watch a video of the sermon. Our time on Earth is so short, so make the most of it and don’t leave anyone behind.
