Seeking His Kingdom

What is the first thing when you wake up in the morning? Do you thank God for another day? Do you ask what you can do for Him to serve Him? I know usually when I wake up, I am thinking about the day ahead of me. Do I have everything ready for class? How many copies do I need to make? Do I have anything going on after school? Throughout my whole day, I am constantly thinking about the next thing that needs to be done and checking it off the to-do list. Lately, however, I have been asking and praying to have a Kingdom Seeking mindset. Instead of just focusing on the next school day or plans for the weekend, I am trying to focus beyond that –way beyond that by thinking about the Kingdom of Heaven.
“The Lord is building His Kingdom quietly through His faithful and humble servants.” – Henry B. Eyring
Our pastor mentions to us every week that our main goal on Earth is to populate Heaven. How can we be populating Heaven if we don’t have that mindset of building it and growing it? Pastor Scott gives us the goal that the Bible relays: The Great Commission. Go out and make disciples of all nations. Does that sound familiar? That goal is something that we can all reach. When we get to Heaven someday and see the people that are there because of us, it will be rewarding.
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
When we focus on the Kingdom and seek Him first, we can serve Him by having a heart that is focused completely on Him. When we have a heart that is Kingdom seeking, we have an understanding of what matters most in His heart. We are passionate, loving, and giving. He leads us in the right direction and that direction is one towards Him. In the grand scheme of time, we need to focus on eternity rather than life on Earth.
“To seek Christ does not narrow one’s life, rather it brings it to the level of highest possible fulfillment.” A.W. Tozer
We do have a short life on Earth so it is essential to make the most of it. We begin to feel like we don’t have enough time for Jesus, but really the more we seek Him, the more purposeful and fulfilling our lives will be. We search for the purpose and meaning of life through the phases of our lives, and this is it! Our purpose to seek His kingdom and populate Heaven.
“For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:21
This week, let’s focus on the big picture. Let’s look beyond the day in front of us and look for Him. Who do you want in Heaven with you that doesn’t believe yet? Pray for those that haven’t found Him. Pray that you can make a difference in not only their life but for eternity. Do not seek the world. Seek peace. Seek love. Seek truth. Seek Christ. Seek His Kingdom.
