Inviting Him

Whether I was jet skiing in the clear waters of the Caribbean or riding the four wheeler on the green grass of our pasture, this summer my goal was to live a Jesus Centered life. I read this book at the beginning of the year and highly suggest it to anyone seeking purpose in their life and a more meaningful relationship with Christ. How can I live this “Jesus Centered Life,” in the midst of the business? Rick Lawrence suggests that as we complete our day to day activities, we simply invite Jesus into our lives for every single moment.

It starts by filling the moments of boredom, for example, while driving in the car or standing in line at a grocery store. Instead of getting caught up with road rage, ask Jesus to give you patience. Instead of looking at our phones at social media, read a quick devotional. By starting with quick minutes, a new habit is formed starting to dig deeper at that real relationship with Jesus.

The more I read this book, the more I craved those instances shared with my savior. I always knew He was surrounding me, but when I started to invite Him in, I began to notice him and those God things even more.

Usually, when we are doing something new, fun and exciting, we get distracted and forget to pray and send praises. Because of starting with the small things, I began to invite Him in on the big things. As we snorkeled in the ocean with turtles, I sent Him my awe of the endless beauty He has created on land and in sea. During Molly’s last steer show at County Fair, I sent Him praise for the opportunities He gave us for raising and showing livestock for so many years. During the sunrises I’ve witnessed and photographed, I thanked Him for yet another day full of blessings.

As we invite Him in those moments, we become closer to Him. The closer we get to Him, the more we are like Him. The more we are like Him, the more our hearts are aligned with a plan far greater than our own. And when we see what our purpose is for our lives, we can thrive to be encouragers, leaders and Kingdom builders.

This week, I challenge you to live a Jesus Centered life. Try your hardest to invite Him in and notice Him in all that surrounds you. Live a life full of purpose and meaning and I will pray that you see that it is rooted in Jesus.

"A cross centered life is made up of Christ centered days." -C.J. Mahoney
