Deeper than the Ocean

Mornings, afternoons and nights were spent on the balcony during our honeymoon. -Not every day, every afternoon or every night, but we made it a point to go out throughout our trip. I would do my devotion at the table, we would play games and we would look at the beautiful ocean beneath us as the ship cut through the turquoise-blue water.
As far as we could see, the ocean never ended. As far deep as we could imagine, the sea never faded. On this planet, water covers the majority of it and we are surrounded by it. It’s the biggest thing we can begin to fathom, yet there’s so much of it that has yet to be explored because of the width and depth.
When I think of something that is so big, so wide, so deep, something that never ends, and is always there, I think about God’s love for each and every one of us. The ocean humbles me and makes me feel small and a part of something so big yet I also feel consumed by the water being in the midst of God’s presence.
“Who else has held oceans in His hands?” Isaiah 40:12
It is hard to even fathom how large the ocean is, so it is truly hard to understand His love for us unless we seek that relationship with Him. The more time we spend with Him, the more He will show us His love throughout the day. When we seek Him and the love He has for us, we realize those little moments that we thought were coincidences, were certainly more than that.
“You will cast all your sins into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:19
Along with seeking His love, we must cast our cares, sins and evil desires to the depths of the sea. Only our Creator will be able to take away our fear, hurt and sinful nature. By jumping headfirst into His ocean full of love, our pain will be healed. By cannonballing into the water full of forgiveness, our cares will be taken care of –not just here, but for eternity.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:7
This week, let’s dive, jump, and hop into the ocean that represents God’s love that never ends. Let’s focus on seeking love above all else because it is deeper than the lowest level of the sea. When we start to go through rough water, instead of giving up, let’s persevere because even in the midst of storm, He surrounds us.
