Even If

As I patiently waited for a phone call to hear good or bad news, I replayed the interview in my head over and over thinking what I should’ve said and what I would’ve changed. I thought about how I wanted this job and how disappointed I would be if I didn’t get it. I thought about all the reasons why I wasn’t getting a phone call and made myself nervous. Tyler, my parents and Mr. Everhart just kept telling me to pray about it –and I was praying about it; praying that I would get the job. The more I prayed however, the more I started to actually listen.
As we go through life, we shouldn’t be praying for what we want, we should be praying to fulfill God’s plan for us. Last week I realized this and changed my prayer that was full of my own selfish wants to seeking His purpose and doing all things for Him. Instead of dreading disappointment, I started to accept that even if I didn’t get it, there was a reason why in His plan for me as a teacher.
When I was driving to and from school, I longed to hear Mercy Me’s song, “Even If.” The words really spoke to me last week and it was an encouraging reminder for the situation.
I know You’re able, and I know You can. Save through the fire with Your mighty hand, but even if You don’t, my hope is You alone.
They say it only takes a little faith to move a mountain. Good thing, a little faith is all I have right now.
But God when you choose to leave mountains unmovable, give me the strength to be able to sing, “It is well with my soul.”
I know the sorrow, I know the hurt, would all go away if You’d just say the word, but even if you don’t, my hope is You alone.
You’ve been faithful, you’ve been good, all of my days. Jesus I will cling to You, come what may ‘cause I know You’re able, I know You can.
Of course God can do anything and everything. Of course we can trust Him in all situations because He, the Creator of the Universe, is the ultimate planner; however, with strong faith, we can accept that even if we don’t understand or get what we are praying for, He is still in control. He wouldn’t bring us to the situation if He thought we couldn’t handle it.
If you are going through a difficult situation, don’t forget to put your trust in Him. Remember that a little faith can move mountains and in this life we are all guaranteed to go through trials and tribulations, but God also promises that He will walk with us through it all. Even if He isn’t answering your prayer at this exact moment, it is because He has something greater planned for you –probably something you’ve never even imagined!
Even though the week was long, I gained patience and had the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus. I continued being anxious, but was able to say, “It is well with my soul no matter the outcome.” I am extremely blessed to have received a job offer at the end of the week. Because I know that this is God’s plan, I will fulfill His purpose and strive to be the best teacher I can be keeping the students in mind because I know that is what He has in store for me.
