“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
A few months ago Tyler was wanting to get a tattoo and was asking for ideas. I suggested for him to get a Bible verse. He looked for a while, found one he liked, and made an appointment. He had showed me the verse he chose before and sent me a picture of the finished tattoo.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
The other night we were sitting on the couch watching TV and hanging out. He looked down at my bracelet and noticed that on it was the first part of that verse that he had just gotten tattooed.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
I have worn this bracelet every day since my parents gave it to me and yet we just made the connection. The things that are seen on us are the same verse and we didn’t even realize it. God does some cool stuff, but we need to look for Him in every aspect of our lives.
I decided to write about this verse as it is one of my favorites and after we saw that God moment unfold right in front of our eyes.
Trust. This word means so much but is easily forgotten about. It’s easy to trust when everything is going right; however, there are many times that life doesn't go as anticipated. Trust is knowing that God has the ultimate plan and that we can believe in His promises. Trust is taking everything to Him in prayer instead of sitting there worrying about it. How can we show our trust to God? We must let Him into our hearts – just as the verse says. Every morning I ask for Jesus to fill me up with the Holy Spirit and have it consume my heart, soul and mind. I also pray that I trust Him in everything I do. I pray to not doubt Him and whatever He has in store for me that I have an open mind and heart to it.
Acknowledge Him. I continuously seek Him in all that I do, and look for Him and His hand. As I ponder what He would do, how He would react to situations, and what I could do to please Him, I am acknowledging Him and inviting Him into my life. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to pray so I ask for that help as well. As we acknowledge Him, we glorify Him. We know that it’s all from Him and we can trust. A book that I read called Jesus Centered Life was a great way to connect and truly acknowledge Him.
I don’t think it was a coincidence that the Bible verse on my bracelet and the one on his tattoo are the same; I truly believe God shows Himself to us every day and we must choose to acknowledge Him. In your devotional, Bible or book, choose a few key words and apply them to your life this week. I will be focusing on trust and acknowledgement and I know that He will guide my path.
