What do you have to lose?

“If you live for the next world, you get this one in the deal; but if you live only for this world, you lose them both.” –C.S. Lewis
As I sat at my Great Grandma’s funeral this past week, I couldn’t help but ponder everything about life and death. The pastor said he has done several funerals where he has truly worried about the soul of a person. Did they accept Jesus into their hearts before they passed? Did they believe He died for their sins? Where will they be spending eternity? This got me thinking about how we, as Christians, should pave this road for non-believers before it gets to that point of having to wonder and worry.
“I would rather live as there is a God and die to find out there isn’t than to live my life as there isn’t and die to find out there is.”
“How do I convince non-believers to believe?” was my question of the day. How can I help my friends and family who are blind to Christ to see? How can I show them His love, faithfulness, and mercy? To those of you struggling with your faith or do not believe at all, I promise you there is more to this life than what you know. Do you feel like you are missing something? Do you long for something more? If you give your life to Jesus, He will fulfill your life and beyond.
“The fact that our heart yearns for something Earth can’t supply is proof that Heaven must be our home.” –C.S. Lewis
My question to you is what do you have to lose? Why not pursue a relationship with Him? Why not go to church every week? Why not pursue being Christ-like? Why not maximize our gifts He has given us to glorify Him? God has shown us the proof of Him through His creation. In George Strait’s song, “I Saw God Today,” he says, “His fingerprints are everywhere.” This is so true as we look around us and see sunsets, newborn babies, and blooming flowers. Not only do we have His creation to look at, we can read His word and learn about His promises. It’s all there and will speak to you if you try and if you listen. Our God loves you more than you can ever fathom and He will forgive you for all of your sins as long as you believe in Him. Not only will He fill that gap in your heart, you get to spend forever with Him. It seems worth it to me to forget about myself and surrender to Him.
What do you have to lose when you have everything to gain?
“If anyone wants to be My follower, he must forget about himself. He must take up his cross and follow me. If anyone wants to keep his life, he will lose it. If anyone gives up his life because of Me, he will save it. For what does a man have if he gets all the world and loses his own soul?” –Matthew 16: 24-26
