It's All About Attitude

Imagine this, you wake up in the morning and start to get ready for a busy day full of work, shopping and time with family. You pick out your favorite shirt to wear that matches your jewelry and shoes. You walk down the stairs and start making breakfast. Right before you head out the door, you spill that scorching coffee down your shirt causing you to be late because you had to change your whole outfit. You rush into work angry at your coworkers and boss because it’s “their fault.” This mindset carries through the rest of the day when you go shopping and then by the time you meet with your family for dinner, you don’t even want to be there. As you go to bed, you think about all the snarky comments you said, the rude things you told your sister and how it was the worst day ever.

Even though this scenario might be an over exaggeration, there are so many people that have a negative outlook on life. We all have different circumstances that contribute to our lives, good and bad, but we do have a choice in the midst of the chaos: attitude.

It’s all about attitude. There are big situations in life and small, but if we keep the outlook positive, we can be a better person that influences others. If we have a bad approach, it can affect others and could potentially ruin their attitude for the day.

Instead of going to school each day thinking it will be boring, we must take it as an opportunity to learn something new. Instead of not wanting to wake up on Sunday morning to go to church, we should be thankful for another day and see it as a chance to grow closer to Jesus. If we think something is going to be a bad time, it probably will be because of the attitude that is already stuck in our heads. Changing that attitude from the beginning will result in success.

“Attitude is a mental outlook –a frame of mind. It’s how you think based on what you know to be true. It’s a reflection of your faith, a sign of confidence that life is not about you, nor even about your happiness or success. It is about God and His plan for your life.” –Zig Ziglar

God offers us this wonderful life full of opportunities to be our best in whatever we are passionate for. What is your purpose? Is it making a difference? Does it allow you to put Him first realizing that He has the plan? How is your attitude affecting yourself and those around you?

Instead of letting coffee ruin a day or a bad day in the office ruin your week, I challenge you to find that perspective that makes you want to be genuine, humble, open-minded, and faithful. Encourage others and remember that attitude transforms you and your life.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” –Philippians 4:8
