We may be small, but we serve a big God

The past couple of weeks, I have been walking through the wheat fields on my family’s farm searching for rye and pulling it out before the combines harvest it. When I’m in the middle of the wheat field, I start thinking and get the same feeling as I do when I’m by the ocean or in the mountains. There are thousands of kernels of grain surrounding me. The ocean is deep and the water goes as far as I can see it. At the top of Pikes Peak, there are summits we could see that were hundreds of miles away that were over 14,000 feet. This humbling feeling that I get is how as the people of this world, we are so small; and even though we are just a tiny fraction of what makes up this universe, God knows us. Not only does he know us, he counts every single hair on our heads and knows what we are feeling. Chris Tomlin sings, “You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same,” in his song Indescribable. So even though we fail Him, and we sin, He loves us! He loved us so much, He died for us on the cross so that we could have eternal life with Him. My human heart cannot begin to fathom the love our big God has for us and how He created this world to live in. I see these earthly things such as waterfalls, sunsets and canyons and can’t even begin to imagine what our heavenly home is like –it will be perfect. Every day, we must strive to glorify Him and give Him thanks for the world we live in. We may be small compared to fields, oceans, and mountains but to Him, we are big, strong and mighty.

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” –Luke 12:7
